How Does Your Website Rank? Check Out This Free Tool To Find Out
We wrote this post with the intention of helping some of our local business contacts, many of whom have made positive comments about our website and use of technology in our real estate practice.
If you have a website, which most people in business do, we recommend checking out this great tool that allows you to grade your site. The nice thing is that it also offers tips on how to improve your score, and best of all, it's FREE.
You can check it out here at www.websitegrader.com . Regardless of how your site grades ( out of 100 ), the site shows a few things you can easily do that may help you boost your score, and hopefully drive more business your way.
Here is an example of what the main page looks like, using our personal real estate website, www.schumanteam.com . Overall, we scored pretty well, but could still refine a few things to make it even better.
While we suggest that you actually spend some time on this site, we wanted to share a few quick tips that we picked up that may help you improve your website's grading.
1. Domain info - Check your expiration date! If your domain name expires in less than a year, the search engines may see it as a lack of commitment to your domain or even view your site as spam.
2. Add links from your social media accounts such at Twitter and Facebook to your site.
3. Evaluate your readability level - Define your ideal client and make sure you are writing to attract that person.
4. Check your inbound links - More links to your site help increase your search engine rankings.
5. Add a blog. - Having a blog is great, but it may be even better to have a link to it on your website.
If you do have a blog, there's also a handy tool to grade your blog as well http://blog.grader.com/ . If you don't have a blog, you may want to consider starting one. They are fairly inexpensive, easy to operate, and consumers love reading them.
Another great use for this grader is to be able to check out your competition. You can plug any website into this tool, not just your own, so why not see what others are doing. Maybe you'll notice your competition doing something great that you aren't doing, and decide to make a change so as to not be outdone.
Overall, there are some easy ways to help your website, so check out websitegrader.com , play around with it, and hopefully a few small changes will help you increase your business.
